OVERVIEW:
Overseas artists visiting Afghanistan
SecurityDue to the prevailing threat of global terrorism (including to aid relief workers and journalists) travellers are currently being advised against travel to Afghanistan. Most Western civilians not affiliated to any aid operation are advised to leave the country.
The situation in Afghanistan remains unstable and is potentially violent for foreigners. Outbreaks of fighting still occurr between rival Afghan groups, some of whom have already targeted foreigners.

VisaThose foreign artists who decide to visit Afghanistan should fill in the visa application form at the Afghan embassy in their home country. If they wish to contact specific artists in Afghanistan they can write a letter to the embassy stating their purpose for travelling. The embassy will forward the letter to the Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs in Kabul, which will then contact the people concerned.
Alternatively, the Foundation for Culture and Civil Society (FCCS) can assist foreign artists to find performance or display spaces and suggest potential artistic partnerships.
