The Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) recently gave $7000 to the Afghan National Theatre to be used to begin rehearsing and performing. Artists in Bergen and Oslo gave free performances on 27 April and 17 May 2003 to raise funds for the National Theatre troupe. They invited the director from Kabul to attend the performances and work with Norwegian artists to perfect her craft. The Norwegian National Theatre agreed to give two of their members a month of paid leave to assist Afghan artists in Kabul.
