Having reappeared on the international tourist map in the wake of the Paris Peace Accord of 1990 as an ‘adventure destination’, Cambodia has since the election of 1993 adopted an open-door policy in order to attract foreign investment for the development of the tourism infrastructure. The challenge now is to manage the sector in a sustainable way.
