Recognising the importance of culture as a force for social integration and national identity, and the contribution which it can make to educational, social and economic life, the Lao government seeks to nurture and develop the country's many different cultural traditions, including those of the ethnic minorities, as an embodiment of the totality of cultural values which characterises the nation as a whole.
