The Ministry of Information and Culture is very keen to promote Lao culture overseas and can assemble artists of all disciplines for foreign touring on request.

As noted above, where the exchange activity does not form part of an official bilateral or multilateral co-operation agreement most or all relevant expenses must be met by the overseas presenting agency.

Where invitations to travel overseas are issued directly to government-run performing troupes and do not form part of an official bilateral or multilateral co-operation agreement, the troupes involved in the exchange will normally liaise directly with the Ministry of Information and Culture or with their local Provincial Service of Information and Culture to obtain official approval for their trip.

On a less formal level, provided a written invitation has been supplied by an overseas host and appropriate country visa or visas issued, individual Lao artists are free to travel overseas independently to participate in international conferences, seminars, workshops, festivals, competitions and other creative activities.
