The Department of Party Relations of the Committee for External Relations is responsible for: organising and making arrangements for delegations of political parties from other countries to make official visits to the Lao PDR; for studying and summarising the world situation and foreign policy lessons with a view to making frequent reports to the Party and Leader; for co-operating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in studying, evaluating and reporting on world affairs and world and regional political situations; for co-operating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and concerned agencies of the state and government to educate and train diplomatic officers to meet the demands of the country in the Party's open door foreign policy; for studying and formulating short-term and long-term plans to undertake exchanges with parties in other countries; and for being an implementer of the foreign affairs actvities of the Party, monitoring the international activities of mass organisations in rebuilding the country as a peaceful, independent democracy and its socio-economic development in the context of the world stage.
