The Economic Research Institute for Trade has a role and position equivalent to that of a Department within the Ministry of Commerce. Its main duties include researching, planning and implementing Party policies and the rules and regulations of the government relating to economics and trade; researching the world economic situation and reporting to the Minister; drafting rules and regulations on trade and proposing them to decision makers; co-ordinating with line ministries and government agencies working in the field of economics and trade; holding training seminars and workshops with a view to the short term training of government employees and staff of privates companies in the field of economics and trade; and identifying technical resources from foreign agencies and donors in accordance with the Minister’s approval.
