The Provincial Committee for the Protection and Development of Champassak Heritage brings together the key stakeholders in the Wat Phu Champassak World Heritage site, namely the Champassak Provincial Government, the Champassak Provincial Service of Information and Culture, the Champassak Provincial Tourism Office and the Champassak Service of Construction, Transport, Posts and Communication. It is responsible to the Champassak Provincial Service of Information and Culture for the day-to-day management of the Wat Phu Champassak World Heritage Site, which comprises the temples complexes of Wat Phu Champassak, Nang Sida, Thao Tao and Tomo, the ancient cities of Lingapura and Setapura and an Ancient Khmer Road. Other surviving Khmer temples located further afield in Sukuma and Mounlapamok Districts of Champassak Province (That Dong That, Ban Done, That Ban That, That Ban Viene, That Nang In, That Nasamrieng) do not at present fall within the purview of the Committee and are managed by the district authorities, although the Committee offers guidance and support to the district authorities on technical matters.
