First published in the 1960s as the Vientiane Post, this Lao-language broadsheet was relaunched as Vientiane Mai (New Vientiane) Newspaper in September 1975. It is the principal daily newspaper of the capital city of Vientiane, with between 3,000 and 4,000 copies circulated daily. The newspaper switched to full colour printing and launched an online version with effect from 1 January 2005. Vientiane Thourakit Sangkhom Weekly is also published by the same office.
