Established in 1938, this UNESCO-affiliated organisation aims to promote the preservation of film as an artistic and historical document throughout the world and to bring together all organisations devoted to this end; to facilitate the collection and international exchange of films and documents relating to cinematographic history and art for the purposes of making them as widely accessible as possible; to develop co-operation between members; and to promote the development of cinema art and culture.
