LNMCThe NMCs serve the needs of the National Council and Joint Committee members of each country. Their overall goal is to strengthen co-operation by providing a link between the MRC and national governments and by co-ordinating MRC related activities at the national level. The structure and composition of the National Mekong Committees varies from one country to another. Each NMC is supported by a Secretariat which supports the NMCs by helping to identify and co-ordinate MRC programmes, assist national line agencies with MRC related activities, and facilitate arrangements for international events including the Joint Committee and Council meetings. The vision of the Lao National Mekong Committee is an economically prosperous, socially just and environmentally sound Mekong River Basin, a well-structured and efficient national organisation for the management of the Mekong River Basin, serving the strategic plan of the Lao government for water resources through co-operation with Mekong River Commission and line agencies to achieve the Mekong River Basin Vision and Lao National Strategic Plan. Its mission is to promote, co-ordinate, manage and develop water and related resources in a sustainable way by collaborating with local and international organisations in studying and formulating policy and strategic plans and implementing programmes and projects.
