Located one kilometre south of the Wat Phu Champassak temple complex close to the Ancient Khmer Road, Nang Sida appears to have been the principal sanctuary of the ancient Khmer city of Lingapura. Today all that remains of the temple are an entrance platform, an entrance hall and a collapsed tower dating from the 11th century, plus a separate small brick building which is believed to have been a library. The surviving walls of the temple are largely concealed by the rubble of their own collapse, but it is still possible to see the fine quality of the decorative carving, most of which is floral rather than figurative in nature. It is believed that the temple was dedicated to the worship of Shiva. The foundations of many other ancient buildings have been found alongside the still partially visible entrance causeway.
