Constructed in 1959 by the owner's father (an ethnic Chinese who was born in Laos), Siengsavan Theatre operated as a cinema until the 1980s when it fell into disuse. It was extensively renovated in 1993 and the old raked cinema seating removed from the stalls area to make it suitable for receptions and other large events. Although nowadays used almost exclusively for karaoke and weekend anti-drug shows for children and young people, the venue is technically available for hire as a performance space.
