Constructed with grant aid from the People's Republic of China, this new national cultural centre was opened in March 2000. A receiving hall, it has no budget for its own presentations and simply hosts performances by visiting overseas artists and arts groups sponsored by foreign embassies in Vientiane, plus conferences organised by the Ministry of Information and Culture and other government offices. The venue comprises a 1,500-seat auditorium, two conference rooms and a lobby which hosts changing art exhibitions.

Dimensions: 480 square metres (40m x 12m x 7.8m H); installation system: hammer and nail into 4 x free-standing double-sided 3.8m x 2.25m wooden exhibition screens, 12 x free-standing double-sided 2.75m x 2.25m H wooden exhibition screens, both covered with lightweight material; lighting: downlighters in ceiling only, no special exhibition lighting; climate control: air-conditioned; security system: invigilator on duty during exhibitions; sales policy: sales permitted, sales commission negotiable
