The obligations of the Ethnic Affairs Committee of the National Assembly are principally legal in nature, including drafting legislation, bills and budgets. Its functions are: to supervise and oversee the implementation of the plan for socio-economic development and state budget related to ethnic issues; to study the draft plans and state budget related to ethnic issues; to study and make recommendation on draft laws and draft regulations on ethnic issues, submitted to the National Assembly by the government and other organisations; to supervise and oversee the implementation of the constitutions and law in the ethnic sector; to co-ordinate with the party, state, mass organisations and other concerned organisations in order to collect data, to call upon or invite to give clarifications on issues of interest to the Committee and go to inspect on site; to contact foreign and international organisations under the agreement of Standing Committee; to submit to the National Assembly and to its Standing Committee different issues related to the ethnic sector; and to exercise other rights and duties as assigned by the President of the National Assembly or by the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.
