The standing stones or menhirs of Hintang Nalae are grouped in small clusters on mountaintops in a remote area some 110 kilometres from the provincial capital. Bearing a strong resemblance to those of other contemporaneous megalithic cultures in the region, they are incised with various designs, indicating that they were almost certainly of ritual significance. Access is difficult and demands a six-hour cross-country walk from the nearest road. As yet there has been no archaeological investigation of the menhirs, which are not yet registered as a cultural site and therefore off-limits to visitors without prior permission.
