The Japan Foundation is a non-profit organisation established in 1972 as a special corporation under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Dedicated to international cultural exchange, it promotes Japanese language education and Japanese studies overseas and organises two-way exchanges involving countries with which Japan maintains diplomatic relations, both of academic, scientific and cultural personnel and of artistic programmes of all disciplines.
