Intermedia arts
Contemporary creativity increasingly refuses to be limited by boundaries of genre, form or medium. Intermedia is a new phenomenon which is rooted in conceptual and new media art and includes all 'artistic practices that use information technology, robotics, electronic networks, cybernetics, telepresence, virtual reality, multimedia and "extended body" in the creative process'. This was the definition used by the Slovene Ministry of Culture when a special section for Intermedia arts was set up in 2001. The Intermedia arts sector in Slovenia has been developing intensively for the last decade. The main protagonists are artists who have established their own creative infrastructures, eg Marko Peljhan - Projekt Atol Institute, Marko Košnik - Egon March Institute, Igor Štromajer – Intima Virtual Base, Davide Grassi (Janez Janša) – Aksioma Institute, etc. Other individual authors who broke ground at this time included Vuk Ćosić, Darij Kreuh, Damjan Kracina, Borut Savski, Luka Frelih, Jaka Železnikar, and numerous emerging artists whose creativity is channelled through modern technology and seeks to explore technology’s impact on society. Please select either OVERVIEW or the KEY CONTACTS .
