 Miran Jarc Library in Novo mesto functions as the regional library for South East Slovenia. The Library was founded in 1946 as a regional study library and is currently the main library in the Novo mesto area. Financial support is given by Novo mesto Urban Municipality and the Ministry of Culture of Slovenia. The 1,733 square-metre library incorporates a 70-seat reading room. The Library functions both as a traditional library and as a multimedia information centre for the school population and other communities living in the region. Miran Jarc Library has several branches - France Prešeren Library in Šentjernej, Škocjan Library, and Straža, Otočec and Dvor Libraries.The regional library is the seat of the Library Association of Dolenjska.
