This provincial museum contains displays of artefacts relating to the culture, history and development of the region from the earliest times to the present day. It includes a special collection of archaeological artefacts from Cao Island. The museum functions as the provincial government office responsible for conservation and museums development under the professional guidance of the National Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Hà Nội. At the time of writing a new museum building is being constructed with a scheduled completion date of late 2006.
