Established in 1959 and earmarked at the time of writing for a VNĐ300 billion refurbishment, this museum contains extensive displays of army hardware and other artefacts illustrating the history and development of the People’s Army of Việt Nam, its key role in the struggle against France and the United States and its contribution in times of peace.
Visitors to the museum can also visit the nearby flagtower, built in 1805-1812 and one of the few remaining vestiges of the Thăng Long (Hà Nội) Citadel.
