 Located 96 kilometres north-west of Hồ Chí Minh City and 64 kilometres from the Củ Chi Tunnels, the Cao Đài Holy See is the focus of the Cao Đài religion, which took root in southern Việt Nam during the 1920s and currently has around 2 million adherents. At its centre is the extraordinary twin-towered Cao Đài Cathedral, constructed in 1926, which is the largest of an estimated 1,000 Cao Đài temples in southern Việt Nam.
