Bình Tả's architectural and archaeological vestiges (including Gò Xoài, Gò Dồn and Gò Năm Tước) are located 40 kilometres north-east of the town of Tân An in Long An Province. The vestiges are remnants of the Óc Eo-Funan culture which date from the first to sixth centuries CE. Lying at a depth of 1.7 to 1.9 metres, Gò Xoài Temple is considered to have been a ritual site of the Funan people. Twenty six gold objects were discovered in Gò Xoài, including thin gold leaves bearing sentences of the Buddhist sutra written in the ancient Sanskrit language. Other valuable objects excavated close to the temple include pieces of Óc Eo pottery, metal, precious stones, sandstone and a series of other relics from primitive man. Architectural works discovered in Bình Tả's vestiges include the foundations of a Brahmanist temple dedicated to Shiva.
