Established in 1977, this municipal company performs both traditional water puppetry and contemporary rod puppetry, most recently with the addition of high-tech laser effects. It presents regular shows at its own Măng Non ('Bamboo Shoots') Theatre, at the Công Nhân Theatre, 30 Trần Hưng Đạo and for foreign visitors at the Việt Nam History Museum, Hồ Chí Minh City and at the War Remnants Museum. The company also tours throughout the country performing in schools, youth and community centres and has toured extensively overseas, including the USA, Canada and Japan.
