Agence Kampuchea Presse was originally established on 29 December 1978 as Sapordamean Kampuchea (SPK); after the election of 1993 its name was formally changed to Agence Kampuchea Presse. AKP is a government agency under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Information which aims to broadcast the official news of the Cambodian government. AKP issues the daily AKP news bulletin and the monthly Kambuja Magazine. Prior to 2004 it also issued the monthly Kampuchea Newspaper, but this publication has now been discontinued. AKP also disseminates news internationally via its website through a joint venture with the Camnet company. AKP is currently appealing to outside donors for assistance in upgrading its equipment and welcomes the advice of international experts with a view to improving its services. |
