The Financial and Accounting Department of the Japan Foundation is responsible for budgetary and accounting matters, including transactions concerning private donations (from both corporations and individuals) to the Japan Foundation. In addition to the scheme of general donations, there is Designated Donations Programme, the purpose of which is to promote private contributions to international cultural exchange as a whole beyond the organisational benefit of the Foundation. In this programme, the donors specify a project for which they make a tax-exempt contribution to the Foundation. Following the original intention of the donors, the Foundation channels the donated sum to the designated organisation.
