Housed in a large building situated behind the Sumo Stadium, the Edo-Tokyo Museum was founded in 1993 to preserve the historical heritage of Edo-Tokyo and to promote historical awareness to develop a better future for Tokyo. It tells the story of Tokyo from the days of the Tokugawa Shogunate to postwar reconstruction, using life-size dioramas and holograms; both original and replicated artefacts are displayed.
