Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography is the first comprehensive museum specialising in photography and moving images in Japan. It contains works by leading Japanese and international photographers, together with displays of artefacts and equipment illustrating the history and development of the art of photography. The museum functions as a centre of photographic culture, conserving photographic works and undertaking research into the photographic arts. The museum regularly organises temporary exhibitions.
