Established in 1961 to commemorate the fifth century of the city of Tokyo, Tokyo Metropolitan Festival Hall is ideally located in Ueno Park, one of the city’s major cultural sites. It was fully refurbished in 1985. Under its policy to encourage cultural activities and international communication, the venue has programmed various events since its inception. Facilities include a large hall for concerts, operas, plays and dance; a small hall suitable for musical recitals and solo concerts; rehearsal rooms; and conference rooms.
