The Arts Department of the Japan Foundation is responsible for various types of arts exchange programmes for the purpose of deepening mutual understanding between Japan and other countries of the world. These include programmes to promote Japanese performing and fine arts (both classical and contemporary) and media arts abroad, and to introduce notable foreign performing, fine art and media forms to Japan. Promoting artistic co-creation has become one of the major interests of the Foundation, and support for international collaborative efforts has been strengthened accordingly.
