Established on 18 November 1939, JASRAC functions to protect the rights of owners of musical works and to facilitate the utilisation of musical works, thereby contributing to the dissemination and development of musical culture. To this end it manages copyrights of musical works, liaises with copyright licensing organisations abroad and makes arrangements with such organisations for reciprocal protection of copyrights of musical works, conducts business activities concerning remuneration of audio and visual home recording, disseminates information and studies concerning copyrights of musical works, and contributes to the promotion of musical culture. |
