The Japan Foundation Japanese Language Institute, Urawa was established as an affiliated organisation of the Japan Foundation in 1989 in response to increased demands for Japanese-language instruction throughout the world. The primary focus is on language-training programmes designed for specific professional purposes for specialists, such as diplomats, public officials, librarians, researchers, and postgraduate students. The Institute runs various programmes under the three purposes of: human resources development; developing and producing teaching resources; and providing information.
