Located in Kanagawa Prefecture, Atsugi City covers a total area of 93.83 square kilometres and has a total population of 221,226 (2003). A satellite city for the Tokyo-Yokohama metropolitan area, it is also known as the location of the United States Naval Air Facility Atsugi, located between Yamato City and Ayase City, which is the largest United States Navy air base in the Pacific.
