The Chiba Prefectural Museum Boso no Mura is an open-air museum featuring reconstructed buildings from the later Edo period to the early Meiji period style. On passing through the entrance gate, visitors can view many authentic looking old stores and restaurants where they can eat lunch (reservation required). Each store features demonstrations. On the streets, there are Edo-style sedan chairs. Boso no Mura is not only a place to walk around but also a place where visitors can experience various activities. For example, trying on body armour at the Samurai house, weaving at a farm house, cooking local cuisine and dyeing cloth. Reservations for some activities should be made in advance at the entrance gate.
Chiba Prefectural Museum Boso Fudoki-no-Oka is situated nearby.
