The Department of Financial Management of the Prime Minister’s Office serves the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers by (i) managing the budget of the Prime Minister’s Office, (ii) liaising directly with the Ministry of Finance and proposing and defending the annual budget of the Prime Minister’s Office; (iii) collecting budgetary records and figures presented by other departments, finalising them and submitting them as the proposed budget of the Prime Minister’s Office; (iv) providing financial support for other departments of the Prime Minister’s Office in the maintenance and renovation of their buildings, vehicles, materials, equipment and other items of expenditure necessary for their smooth operation; (v) auditing and inspecting the income and expenditure of the Prime Minister’s Office every six months; (vi) managing technical expenditure including retirement funds; (vii) making an inventory of all state properties or treasure held by the Prime Minister’s Office; (viii) summarising and reporting on expenditure in respect of state receptions and foreign visits organised in Laos and overseas; and (ix) giving advice as necessary to other departments in order to make them capable of operating effectively. The Department comprises a Budgetary Planning Division, a Financial Division and a State Properties and Treasure Division.
