OVERVIEW
Internet (2)Norway is among the world leaders, just behind Sweden, in Internet use per resident.
In March 2005 there were 3.14 million Internet users, 64 per cent of the 4.6 million population of that year.
73 per cent of the population over the age of 13 has access to the Internet. As many as 92 per cent of teenagers between the ages of 13 and 19 use Internet regularly (2005). Studies also show that more Norwegians have access to Internet at home compared with access at the workplace.
The trends show that a large number of Norwegians use the Internet for entertainment and that the Internet is an increasingly important part of broadcasting.
The Internet has become the most important means of communication in Norway. A great deal of public funding goes towards ensuring the development of a secure, protected, yet open use of the World Wide Web. One can find information about most public and private institutions on the Internet, most with their own website and many with information in English.
