Founded in 1953, Bergen International Festival proudly presents Nordic impulses in music, theatre, opera, dance, literature and visual art. Every year approximately 180 events are presented in the course of 15 days at more than 14 venues in and around the picturesque city of Bergen, Norway. For complete programme and details, please visit http://www.fib.no.The festival is a member of the European Festivals Association and His Majesty King Harald V of Norway is the Royal Patron. The music of Edvard Grieg (1843-1907), performed at his home the Troldhaugen, has from the start been an important part of the festival. In addition to the main festival, separate fringe events are held, including the Children’s Festival, Nattjazz International Jazz Festival, the Festival Exhibition and the Literature Festival.
