 Opera West was established as a production company with the purpose of producing professional opera on the west coast of Norway with an emphasis on modern and contemporary repertoire, of advancing exchange and interaction of international culture and of increasing local activity and participation in this respect. It also seeks to produce music theatre and opera on a high international artistic level. Previous productions include The Fall of the House of Usher (Phillip Glass), Arien Album (Kjetil Skøien) for the Olympic Games at Lillehammer, The Magic Flute as a family production, Georg’s Marvellous Medicine (a chamber opera by Gisle Kværndokks), The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat (Michael Nyman), Europeas 3 & 4 (John Cage), The Glass Menagerie (Antonio Bibalo), SERA (Henrik Hellestenius) and The Wings of Daedalus (Maurixio Squillante). |
