Norwegian composer Fartein Valen (1887-1952) lived for many years at Valevåg where his home is now preserved as a museum. Fartein Valen’s own piano, which is used during the annual Fartein Valen Days, stands in the study. Fartein Valen is buried on the site of Valen chapel.
