Built in 1883, the Royal Lyceum Theatre is owned by the City of Edinburgh Council. It is home to the acclaimed Royal Lyceum Theatre Company, Lyceum Youth Theatre (LyT) and Stellar Quines Theatre Company. It hosts the annual National Theatre Connections Scottish Showcase and is a key venue for the Bank of Scotland Children's International Theatre Festival in May and the Edinburgh International Festival in August. It also presents performances by a range of visiting companies throughout the year.
The Royal Lyceum Theatre receives core funding from the Scottish Arts Council and is a Revenue Funded Client of the City of Edinburgh Council.
The Theatre welcomes approaches from overseas artists, but in terms of accommodating visiting companies has an extremely limited availability outwith the producing season.
