Originally built in 1904 as a gymnasium/drill hall, converted to a theatre by ENSA in 1942 and completely refurbished in 1989, the Garrison Theatre is a traditional proscenium arch theatre with one bank of 280 seats in a fixed shallow rake facing the well-equipped stage. Situated in the town centre, the complex is open throughout the year with a varied programme of visiting professional and community events. As well as hosting theatre, dance and music performances it provides a film programme showing popular first release films. A part-time lighting technician and stage crew is available.
