The Guardian is a daily newspaper with liberal to left-wing leanings owned by the Guardian Media Group. Originally founded in 1821 as the Manchester Guardian, it changed its name in 1959 and has been based in London (with printing facilities in both Manchester and London) since 1964. In 2005 The Guardian changed from broadsheet to compact or berliner size.
