OVERVIEW:
Cultural co-operation agreements
An wide range of programmes result from official bilateral exchange activity between Slovenia and countries with which Slovenia has signed a cultural co-operation agreement.
By way of example, in February 2006 Culture Minister Vasko Simoniti and his Hungarian counterpart Andras Bozoki met in Budapest to sign an agreement regarding co-operation in education, science and culture for the period 2006-2008. According to the Ministry of Culture, the agreement details the exchange of exhibitions from the national galleries of both countries, the organisation of Days of Culture and intensive co-operation in the area of heritage protection. It moreover details the two countries' co-operation in the area covered by the EU's Television Without Frontiers directive and the Council of Europe's Convention on Cross-border Television, as well as several minority cultural projects. The ministers also discussed plans to present Slovene culture in Hungary in 2007 and possibilities for joint mid-term projects. Simoniti and Bozoki moreover discussed the EU's Culture 2007-2013 agenda, the mobility of art collections and intercultural dialogue (source: Slovenia News, UVI).
