Primorske novice was established when two newspapers Primorske novice and Slovenski Jadran (1953) were unified. Today Primorske novice is an independent newspaper published twice a week (Tuesdays and Fridays), with an emphasis on the news from Primorska region. Since 2000 there have been two versions of Primorske novice: one covers the Koper (coastal) region, and the other the Nova Gorica (North Primorje) region. The publisher is Primorske novice ČZD d o o Koper, with editorial offices in Koper and in Nova Gorica. According to the National Research on Readership (http://www.nrb.info), in 2006 Primorske novice was read daily by 76,000 people, giving it a 4.4 per cent daily reach. Primorske novice has correspondent offices in Ajdovščina, Ilirska Bistrica, Idrija, Sežana, Tolmin, Postojna and Ljubljana. Cultural and regional events are given extensive coverage.
