Bindweed Soundvision Ltd is an independent film company established by filmmaker Franci Slak (1953-2007) in 1992. In 1993 the company produced feature films such as Ko zaprem oči ('When I Close My Eyes'), directed by Franci Slak. In 1996 it was an executive producer of Outsider (1996) directed by A Košak. In 2002 the first long-feature by H A W Slak was produced.
Short films produced in the 1990s included the short fiction films Lojze woke up as usual by Brane Bitenc (1995), Adrian (1998) directed by M Weiss, Vrvohodec ('Stringdancer', 1999) by H A W Slak, and Križišče (‘Crossroads’, 2000), directed by F Slak and M Radosavljević. Bindweed Soundvision also produced the documentaries Rojstvo naroda ('Birth of a Nation', 1992), Duh velikih jezer (‘Spirit Of The Great Lakes’, 1996) directed by F Slak, Piščalka (‘The Flute', 2001) directed by N Križnar, and Tito (2001), directed by J Glogovac.
Bindweed Soundvision films have been presented at numerous film festivals worldwide and have won awards at Valencia and Cairo (Outsider), Cologne (When I Close My Eyes), and Chicago, Creteil and Sarajevo (Adrian). The films When I Close My Eyes and Outsider were the Slovene candidates for the foreign film Oscar in 1994 and 1997. Slepa pega ('Blind Spot'), the first film by H A W Slak, was presented at festivals in Cottbus, Thessalonika, Moscow, Sofia, Edinburgh and Bordeaux, and won the Best Actress Award at Thessalonika and the Best Director Award at Sofia.
Bindweed Soundvision projects-in-progress include Rudar s šahovsko glavo ('The Chesshead Miner'), directed by Igor Zupe, Vnuki ('Grandsons'), directed by F Slak, and Meje novega sveta ('New World Border'), directed by S Podgoršek, with script by A Morovič and B Petkovič.
