Established in February 2001 within the Slovene Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAZU), the Janez Vajkard Valvasor Foundation is a foundation for the research and preservation of the Slovene cultural heritage. In 2001 the Foundation published the Memory Book of the Ljubljana Noblemen Society of St Dismus (1688-1801), a document on the aristocracy and their arts during the Baroque period; Theatrum memoriae nobilis, ac almae Societatis unitorum, das ist Schau Bühne der Gedächtnuss der Adelichen und Gottseeligen Geselschafft der Vereinigten zu stätts wehrenden Andenken eröffnet in der Uhralten Haubt Statt Laybach was reprinted in its original form, with the addition of a commentary and translation in Slovene. The book was donated to 80 Slovene public libraries in order to reach wider audiences.
