K6/4 is a not-for-profit cultural institution (zavod) that produces, organises and promotes creativity by the young and daring, especially within the framework of its well-known venues and the teams of art producers at Kapelica Gallery, Klub K4 and Cyberpipe. It operates in the field of live urban culture by stimulating the development of non-commercial, unconventional, avant-garde forms and contents of creative energy. It explores emerging artistic expressions and presents international art trends. K6/4 is also an organiser of the Break Festival.
Zavod K6/4 was established in 2000 as a result of the restructuring of the Student Organisation of the University of Ljubljana which is also one of its founders (the other is the Union of Student Clubs of Slovenia). Hosted in the building of the Student Organisation of the University of Ljubljana, it uses its infrastructure for a range of different projects and programmes, most of which were already run by its founder/host in the years before the establishment of Zavod K6/4. The programming philosophy of Zavod K6/4 is based on an ambition to become the central Slovene platform for live, emerging and thought-provoking culture. To this end the Institute is developing numerous programmes and projects within which young creators can efficiently express their creative energy, sharpen it with educational activities and assess it with the help of the audience.
