Piran City Library was founded in 1956 and now serves 11 towns of the coastal region. Its collection comprises around 60,000 items in a department for adults and a department for young people. Its collection contains also literature and periodicals in the Italian language for Italian community living in Slovenia. The library comprises some 247 square metres of space and incorporates a reading room with 27 seats and a special local information collection.
