The Maribor regional office of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia is responsible for cultural heritage in the territory of 72 municipalities, where the 24 cultural monuments declared of high importance by the state are located, among them the Dornava Mansion and several other mansions, Slovenska Bistrica Castle and Borl Castle. The office has branches in Ptuj and Slovenj Gradec.
