The Economic and Non-Economic Activities Department of Murska Sobota Urban Municipality is responsible for social and health care, education and sports, as well as for public culture and cultural heritage preservation. Periodic exhibitions are held here, including the International Biennial of Small Sculpture Pannonia. Murska Sobota Castle incorporates the Murska Sobota Regional Museum. The Murska Sobota Union of Cultural Societies brings together various amateur cultural associations and, together with the local branch of the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia (JSKD), facilitates the activities of numerous cultural associations.
